Violet Oon wins tender for Dempsey Road building with top bid of $52,615 a month

Singapore Land Authority (SLA) has awarded the tender for a single-storey conserved building at 7 Dempsey Road to Violet Oon, the Peranakan restaurant of the eponymous chef, restaurateur and food writer. Violet Oon's subsidiary, Halo Concept, submitted a monthly rental bid of $52,615, the highest of eight bids received.
The building sits within the Dempsey Hill lifestyle cluster, with upscale restaurants, cafes, retail and services. It sits on a land area of about 6,723 sq ft and has an estimated gross floor area of 6,190 sq ft.
The tender was launched on January 24, based on quality (concept) and price. The lease period is for 5+4 years.

According to Halo Concept, the new Violet Oon at 7 Dempsey Road will feature an indoor and outdoor dining concept with a mobile cooking studio.
The other bids received for the site ranged from $20,000 to $33,295 a month. The second highest bid of $33,295 per month came from two parties: Singapore-based restaurant groups Culinary Arts and Urban Group, the operator of restaurant and bar Contemporary Melting Pot & Bar (CM-PB), the existing tenant of the building at 7 Dempsey Road, according to the website.
