SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Multinational imaging and electronics company Ricoh has unveiled its new digital workplace at Mapletree Business City. The completely transformed office is not only an update of its existing office space but also a showcase of Ricoh’s offerings in digital workplace services.
Ben Chong, managing director of Ricoh Singapore, observes that with the rise of the digital workforce, companies face new challenges when it comes to fostering staff collaboration and engagement. One such challenge is ensuring that the digital solutions adopted cater to the different generations across the workforce.

To address the challenges, the company embarked on a digital workplace transformation in December last year with the aim of improving efficiency, productivity and asset utilisation.

“Our goal is to create a more technologically empowered and space-efficient workplace to enhance our employees’ efficiency, productivity, collaboration and engagement with our customers,” says Chong.
To that end, Ricoh automated its business processes and eased the sharing of information with multifunction devices. Meeting rooms were equipped with unified communications systems including interactive whiteboards. A bot was also created by the company to assist with data entry and invoicing.

All in, the process took six months from conceptualisation to implementation. “This is the latest phase of our long-term strategy to transform Ricoh workplaces across the region, in order to meet the new challenges of today’s digital world,” says Kazuhisa Goto, managing director of Ricoh Asia Pacific.
By adopting a new digital workplace and workstyle, the company is able to demonstrate to its customers how its digital workplace services can be applied in their own office transformation and tailored according to their business objectives.
According to Chong, the transformation of Ricoh Singapore’s office is already meeting project objectives. As a result of the overhaul, Ricoh has seen 25% overall space saving while providing three times more common space for its staff. It has also helped to reduce spending by 10% despite the new investments that have been made in the latest technology adopted. Ricoh Singapore did not reveal the total cost of investment.
