Koh Brothers Eco announces $255 mil contract win for construction of Circle Line 6

SINGAPORE (Sept 25): Engineering solutions provider Koh Brothers Eco Engineering announced its subsidiary, Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor (KBCE), has been awarded a $255.4 million contract by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the construction of Circle Line 6 (CCL6).

The 4-km stretch of CCL6 will “close the loop” for the Circle Line by connecting HarbourFront and Marina Bay Stations with three CCL6 stations, namely: Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward.

In a Monday filing, the group explains that KBCE’s scope of work will involve all civil, structural, architectural, electrical & mechanical, and system works relating to the construction of cut-and-cover tunnels and other structures from the east of the upcoming Prince Edward Station, to the existing Marina Bay Station.

KBCE intends to commence construction works by end-2017, and expects to complete the project by 2025.

Paul Shin, CEO of Koh Brothers Eco, says the group’s order book has been lifted to $696.9 million with its latest contract win.

“This is a significant win for Koh Brothers Eco, and a testament of the authorities’ confidence in our capabilities amidst the project’s challenges, including carrying out works in the densely populated Marina Bay area,” says Shin.

“CCL6 will also interface with the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System and other PUB sewerage works, which we are confident of navigating well given our familiarity and rich experience in civil engineering and drainage works,” he adds.

KBCE was acquired by Koh Brothers Eco in 2016. The company holds a BCA A1 grade for both building and civil engineering categories, which allows it to tender for building and civil infrastructure projects of unlimited value.

Shares in Koh Brothers Eco closed flat at 30 cents on Monday.
