House Tour: Jerome and Sarah's Charming Home with Industrial-Style Mezzanine

This 1,100-square-metre landed property in Sengkang is home to a creative family of four as well as their furry and feathered babies. It has been progressively changing throughout their six-year stay here, thanks to Jerome and Sarah's unending desire to shake things up around the house.
Its most interesting addition yet: an industrial-style mezzanine that now serves as a study space-cum-home office for Sarah, founder and creative director of Poppy Flora Studio.
The mezzanine sits on top of the living room hallway and extends to the dining area in the patio. It provides a good vantage point to see how different the rooms of the house are but how they seamlessly blend to create an eclectically charming home.

Covered in grey carpet, the mezzanine cradles a classic cabriole-legged study table the couple bought from a store in River Valley, Bohemian-style printed chair, and potted plants. "I'm more inspired to work here now. My home office used to be anywhere in the house," says Sarah.
Take a look at the other stunning areas of this landed home:

Living Room

"We want our living room to be spacious so that everybody can stay here together, especially during the weekends when my parents would come here," explains Sarah.
There used to be a divider separating the living room from the foyer, but Jerome suggested to do away with it to open up the space. Their dining table now comfortably sits on that spot.
The living room contains a hodgepodge of furnishings and decors borrowed from various interior themes: industrial-style brick wall, spider ceiling light and fan; contemporary artworks from the couple's travels; midcentury-inspired console; resort-style chairs and daybed; and seaside-themed wall decors. Most of the furniture in this home are custom-made.
Sarah maximised the space under the stairs, converting it into storage. She also ensured there's a display cabinet for their travel curios as well as toys for their furry buddies.

Kitchen

Jerome and Sarah's open-plan layout promotes free flow into other areas of the house. The kitchen at the opposite end is a country beauty, featuring pastel pink and sage green cabinetry. The glass cabinets and open shelving allow Sarah to display knickknacks from their trips. The oak countertop is a stunner in itself and deserves a second look.

"My daughter and I love to bake while my husband does bread baking occasionally. So this kitchen is just perfect for us," Sarah shares.

Patio and Dining Room

The family's passion for gardening is evident as soon as you step into their abode. Greenery in different shapes and sizes in the foyer and patio-cum-dining area welcome you.
"My husband loves to stay here. He loves plants and birds," says Sarah. It comes as no surprise that one can stay here all day long, soothed by the calming sound of water from the pond and constant chirping of birds.

Master Bedroom + Balcony Garden

This master bedroom is covered in white walls and features an entertainment area and a walk-in wardrobe. "My husband also loves hanging out on the white couch at night, watching TV or reading books," says Sarah.
The beautiful hanging lamps in the wardrobe are from India as Sarah used to sell custom-made lamps.
The master bedroom opens up to reveal Sarah's favourite place in the house, the balcony garden. "Having lots of plants at home is a therapeutic outlet. It takes a lot of care and time but it feels great to have lots of them around," she says.
The family created a cosy outdoor space for the balcony. A wide wooden table and bench occupy the space, which occasionally turns into a venue for intimate family events.

Prayer Room

Also on the second level is the family's prayer room. The stained glass art was designed by Jerome himself while the Last Supper artwork was bought during the couple's trip to France.
"My husband is very good at space planning as he used to be a graphic designer. My profession is a florist so I'm very keen in doing good aesthetics," Sarah says. Both attributes came in handy when the couple found this Sengkang property for sale and they decided to tear everything down and build a new home.
"We did not have an interior designer, we designed and decorated this home all by ourselves. I love it that I can go to any space and it feels like it's a private haven. And that everything is what we want because we designed everything!"
Aside from Jerome, Sarah, and their two children, these furry and feathered friends call this Sengkang property home.
