$900 mil pledged to Household Support Package, households to receive $100 vouchers

SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - All households will each receive $100 worth of Community Development Councils (CDC) vouchers for use at heartland shops and hawker centres, as part of a new Household Support Package announced by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat at Budget 2021 on Feb 16.
In addition, Singaporean children below the age of 21 will receive $200 top-ups to their Edusave Account, Post-Secondary Education Account, or Child Development Account.
Eligible households living in HDB flats will receive Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) rebates of between 1.5 to 3.5 months, to be disbursed in April, July and October 2021 and January 2022.
Eligible households will also receive between $120 and $200 of utilities rebates in April and July. This amounts to an additional 50% of their regular GST Voucher - U-Save over one year.
Lower-income Singaporeans who qualify for the GST Voucher - Cash will receive an additional Special Payment of $200 each in June.
In total, $900 million will be pledged to the Household Support Package.
On average, each member of a Singaporean household has received some $2,000 in Covid-19 support so far, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Feb 11.
Each household has received an average of $4,000. Meanwhile, households with members who have lost income or who are self-employed have received on average an additional $5,100 in relief.
Singaporean households in the bottom 20% by income received about $2,500 per member on average, while those in the next 20% received around $2,800. Households in the top 20% by income received about $1,100.
According to the MOF, over 500,000 people received funds from schemes like the Temporary Relief Fund (TRF), Covid-19 Support Grant (CSG) and Self-Employed Person Income Relief Scheme (Sirs).
