It is now a satellite residential town with a well-developed LRT system offering access to different parts of Sengkang. Sengkang also offers a wide array of work and play amenities, with the main shopping mall Compass One being Singapore's first thematic shopping centre based on the theme of learning.

The North-East Region is the second largest and most densely populated of the five regions in Singapore, with Sengkang being its most populous town. Spanning 13,810ha, the North-East Region is mainly a residential region and housing estate largely comprised of HDB flats. In addition to a myriad of amenities including hospitals, parks, schools and transport options, the region is also home to a few tourist attractions such as Pulau Ubin and Coney Island. Seletar Aerospace Park, which comprises of several aviation manufacturing and research facilities by companies such Rolls-Royce and Singapore Technologies Aerospace, provide employment opportunities to residents both within and beyond the region. Sengkang General Hospital, a 1000-bed hospital, is the largest in the region and is built to further the government's efforts to provide quality and accessible healthcare to all Singaporeans.

"Tranquil and peaceful estate located in very residential area. Opposite Hougang stadium and swimming complex. 3-4 bus stops from Kovan and Hougang MRT from Hougang Ave 2 bus stop. Not easy to take public transport unless sheltered walkway is constructed as bus stop is not close to estate."

"SOLD collectively to Logan Property for redevelopment. Out of the ashes of this 336 unit estate will arise one with 1464 units!! After buying it for a song before privatisation as a speculator, I'm walking away with profits in excess of $1.5 million. Is this exactly good news when you can never replace an expansive 1722sf apartment with another that doesn't have wasted space in the form of bay windows or air con ledges"

"Quiet estate located right beside Serangoon Junior College. Walking distance to Kovan, which has amenities like the MRT, Cold Storage and other eateries. Nice, peaceful area to reside in."
