Choa Chu Kang's name was derived from "kangchu", which refers to plantation owners in Teochew. Originally a kampung, the town has evolved into a modern neighbourhood with strong public transport links and two shopping malls. One of which is Lot One Shoppers’ Mall, a mall located next to the Choa Chu Kang MRT station offering various retail and dining options. Walking along Choa Chu Kang Park, visitors can also still see old fruit tree plantations. Bukit Batok is home to many natural landmarks, such as Bukit Batok Town Park, Bukit Batok Nature Park, Bukit Batok Hill and Little Guilin, which bears a resemblance of Guilin in China, offering a view of towering granite rock sitting within a lake. The main shopping mall is West Mall, which has a public library, post office and cinema within its compounds.

As a major financial and business hub, the Central Region stands as the dynamic city centre of Singapore. Spanning 13,150ha in land area, the region hosts Singapore's only UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to many of the country's national monuments, such as the Merlion Park and Statue of Raffles. Although the region is designated mainly for commercial activities, it houses residential developments ranging from HDBs to bungalows. There is also plenty of greenery in the region, linked by 19km of park connectors. According to the Master Plan 2019, Orchard and Downtown will be rejuvenated as a lifestyle hub to include more mixed developments which offer live, work and play opportunities. New housing will be constructed in the Marina South Area with community facilities and amenities. Stage-6 of the Circle Line opening by 2025 will also enhance the Central Region's connectivity.

"Very interesting place with lots of variety of food and drinks to enjoy. Recommend visiting the coffee bean here and also cold storage too. Then after which take a walk to enjoy the scenery "

"An eclectic mix of shops catering to a wide range of consumers is the draw. However, with the exception of Cold Storage, service and quality of food are downers. This is especially so when it comes down to day to day fares such as chicken rice and coffee. Operators tend to be of the younger set of entrepreneurs out to make a buck instead of a name. Passable as the food may be, their prices can be astronomical. Given its location, rich history and potentials, things could be better"

"A simple and easy to access straight row ground level mall. Has a variety of food & Bar restaurants and also a supermarket (Cold Storage). Free convenient roadside parking."

"It's a quiet enclave with many eateries, spa services and even a spectacle shop with optometrist service. Of course the prices are a tad higher than in most places. But if u need to hv a private chat with people, you can find a comfy spot here."
