Which are the most family-friendly places to live in Singapore? We’ve covered the bases to bring you some of the most family-friendly locations to kick off your search.

1) Central Region

The Central Region continues to be an attractive location for families, with high transport accessibility, a dynamic environment, and a myriad of entertainment and play options for all.

The upscale residential enclave of Bukit Timah is especially popular with young families, drawn in by its scenic tree-lined streets and laidback charm.

Connectivity-wise, the area is served by various MRT stations, including Stevens, Botanic Gardens and Beauty World along the Downtown Line (DTL), which makes travel especially convenient for residents in the area. The DTL provides a direct connection to the Central Business District (CBD) and the Marina Bay area.

Bukit Timah developments located close to the MRT station include the new condo, Daintree Residence on Toh Tuck road. It is within walking distance from Beauty World MRT station, and is also close to shopping amenities such as Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Holland Village, West Mall and Bukit Timah Plaza.

Many elite schools in Singapore are also located in the central region, which makes the area highly desirable for parents with school-going kids. Within Bukit Timah, you will find renowned schools such as Bukit Timah Primary School, Methodist Girls' School (Primary), Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary School, Raffles Girls' Primary School, and Hwa Chong Institution.

2) North East Region

Its breezy, semi-suburban vibes and proximity to green spaces make homes in the North East ideal for families.

Within the region, properties in the Serangoon area are highly sought-after due to various factors, including its centrality and its comprehensive range of available amenities, such as shopping malls, green spaces, public transport and schools.

New developments such as Affinity at Serangoon and Parkwood Residences will be located less than five minutes’ drive away from NEX, one of the region’s largest malls and is a favourite hangout among Serangoon residents.

Its breezy, semi-suburban vibes and proximity to green spaces make up the other part of Serangoon’s allure. Residents in the area have easy access to several major parks in other north-eastern estates via the existing park connectors, including Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park via Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5.

In terms of connectivity, Serangoon is served by a bus interchange and the North East MRT line, which includes locations like Woodleigh, Serangoon and Kovan MRT stations.

Meanwhile, schooling options in Serangoon include CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel, Zhonghua Primary School, Rosyth School, Serangoon Garden Secondary School and Lycee Francais de Singapour.

3) East Coast Region

Singapore's East Coast has long been associated with a serene and tranquil lifestyle.

The East Coast has long been associated with a serene and tranquil lifestyle, especially with its proximity to landmark parks and green spaces such as the East Coast Park.

In recent years, homes in the East Coast have gained appeal amongst growing families, especially with new a MRT line planned for the region.

Scheduled to complete in 2024, the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) will connect residents in the East Coast to the city and to the northern part of the island. The

43km TEL will add 31 new stations to the existing rail network, running through neighbourhoods such as Katong Park, Amber, Marine Parade, Siglap and Bayshore.

Residential developments such as the upcoming Sea Pavilion Residences – located just a stone’s throw from Bayshore MRT station – stand to benefit from the new MRT line both in terms of connectivity and capital appreciation.

The 24-unit freehold boutique development also sits within a 1km radius from Temasek Primary School and Temasek Secondary School. Other schools in the East Coast area include Victoria School and Sekolah Indonesia Singapura.
