The hotel will be part of the mixed-use development One Circular Quay, a prime harbourside site in Sydney that is being developed by AW Holding Group.
Construction has commenced on the 220-unit luxury hotel, which is expected to open in early 2025. “The introduction of Waldorf Astoria to Sydney underscores our development strategy of organically bringing our world-class brands to discerning travellers in key global markets,” says Guy Phillips, senior vice president development, Asia and Australasia, Hilton.
The hotel is located 15km away from Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport and is within walking distance of key shopping destinations and prominent attractions, including the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Royal Botanic Gardens and Museum of Contemporary Art.
There are six other Waldorf Astoria properties in Asia Pacific. Hilton has also inked deals to open Waldorf Astoria hotels in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan.
Waldorf Astoria Sydney joins an existing portfolio of 29 Hilton hotels operating in Australasia under the brands of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn.
