SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Asset World Corp (AWC), an integrated real estate firm under Thai conglomerate TCC Group, has announced a THB1 billion ($40 million) investment to revamp its flagship Bangkok office building The Empire.

The revamp will focus on the creation of a “co-living workspace” on the 53rd floor. Dubbed The Residence at Empire Co-living, the 1,500 sqm (16,146 sq ft) space will be accessible by all tenants. Facilities will include a living room, a communal open kitchen and dining area, a kids’ room, a pet hotel, a nap lounge, showers, and changing rooms. There will also be shared spaces for individual or group work as well as meeting areas.

AWC will also upgrade the tower’s highest floors, turning levels 53 to 58 into a rooftop dining space spanning over 8,460 sqm (91,063 sq ft). The project is expected to be completed by this year.

“Today, new generations of working people are increasingly seeking personal value and purpose at work while striking a balance between work and lifestyle. The roles of physical workplaces have therefore become more multi-faceted to facilitate connection, collaboration and innovation as well as to promote positive employee experiences and retain talents,” says Wallapa Traisorat, CEO and president of AWC.

The Empire is a mixed-use development in Bangkok’s Sathorn business district that was completed in the late 1990s. It comprises predominantly of offices, along with some retail space. According to Wallapa, the building is currently valued at THB20 billion.
