The Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, a 436-key five-star hotel located in Sydney’s CBD, has reopened its doors after a year-long renovation that cost A$70 million ($61.5 million). The renovation was led by Australia-based interior design firm FK.

Works include renovating guest rooms with high-end fittings, including a smart lighting system, and offering a refreshed list of four dining options – two restaurants and two bars – in partnership with Sydney-based hospitality group House Made Hospitality.

Located close to landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth originally opened as the Wentworth Hotel in 1966. Global hotel group Accor has managed the property under its Sofitel brand since the early 2000s.

The hotel is currently owned by global investment firm KKR, who acquired the property from Singapore-listed Frasers Hospitality Trust for A$315 million in 2021.

In addition to its guest rooms, the hotel also features over 15 event and conference spaces for business travellers including its Wentworth Ballroom. Spanning 6,771 sq ft and capable of hosting up to 750 guests, it is one of the largest ballrooms in the city.

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth will also host a Sofitel Club Millésime, a lounge and co-working space accessible to club members or guests who purchase a day pass. The club features business and concierge facilities, showers facilities and all-day dining and refreshments. Platinum members of Accor’s ALL loyalty program can access the lounge during their stay, free of charge.
