The revitalisation of the Tanglin Road-Cuscaden Road area, just off Orchard Road, is well underway. A wave of luxury hotels and high-end residences is transforming the skyline. Among the new developments is a mixed-use project featuring the 204-room Singapore Edition luxury hotel and the 154-unit Boulevard 88 residences.
The Singapore Edition stood out at the EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards 2024, winning in the luxury hotel category.
Sky Seah, a senior lecturer in the Department of Real Estate at the National University of Singapore and a judge for this year’s awards, was particularly struck by the ambience of The Singapore Edition Hotel.

“It’s not just one element; it’s a coalescence of many,” she notes. “From the moment you step into the lobby, you’re enveloped in a sense of tranquillity and quiet luxury, surrounded by walls of white and ivory.”
Seah highlights the thoughtful design that goes beyond aesthetics. “The conservatory invites you in with its abundant natural light and views of lush tropical flora, while the door to the Punch Room evokes the magic of Narnia’s wardrobe.”
It underscores the importance of user experience in hotels, she adds. “You also gain an appreciation for the dedication required to maintain such a high level of luxury, considering the skilled workforce, meticulous attention to detail, and even the demands of the climate.”

According to Ranim Ben Romdhane, general manager of the hotel: “The Singapore Edition embodies luxury lifestyle hospitality through stunning architecture and interiors, exceptional dining experiences, and a commitment to sustainability.
“It offers guests more than just a place to stay — it’s a genuine immersion in the spirit of Singapore. What truly sets us apart is our team: dedicated employees passionate about crafting unforgettable, personalised experiences for our guests each day. We recognise that every guest is unique, and no two interactions are alike. Our commitment is to tailor each experience to make it truly special.”
The Edition Hotel was created by American entrepreneur, hotelier, and restaurateur Ian Schrager in partnership with Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain. Schrager masterminded the interiors of the Singapore Edition in collaboration with the Hong Kong-based interior design firm Cap Atelier.

The structure was designed by the world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie of Safdie Architects, alongside Singapore-based DP Architects. Safdie is also known for designing two other iconic landmarks in Singapore: Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport.
The Singapore Edition is a redevelopment of the former Boulevard Hotel, undertaken by a consortium that includes Hong Leong Holdings, led by Singaporean tycoon Kwek Leng Beng, the Singapore-listed property group City Developments, and Schrager’s Lea Investments.
The hotel on Cuscaden Road held its soft opening last November. It offers a mix of rooms and suites, ranging from 38 sqm (409 sq ft) to 130 sqm (1,399 sq ft). Additionally, it features a single penthouse spanning 200 sqm (2,153 sq ft), complete with a spacious lounge, dining room, fully fitted kitchen, and a 100 sqm (1,076 sq ft) outdoor terrace with a private pool.

Anchoring the first level is the lobby bar and seafood-focused steakhouse Fysh by celebrated Australian chef Josh Niland. It is his first restaurant outside of Australia.
A grand spiral staircase at the hotel entrance leads to the signature bar Punch Room, the Wonder Room micro club as well as the function rooms and ballroom on the lower ground level. The central feature is the landscaped central courtyard.
Sitting on top of the hotel are the twin 28-storey towers of Boulevard 88, which are linked at the rooftop and feature amenities such as the gym, swimming pools and lounges. The project has 50 each of two-bedroom-plus-study, three- and four-bedroom units, ranging from 1,313 to 2,700 sq ft. There are also four penthouses of 5,673 to 6,049 sq ft.
