SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - As we forge ahead with our new routines in this Covid- 19 era, the only thing that remains steadfast and as important as ever, if not more so, is our homes.
Homes have become more than just a haven to escape the hustle and bustle of the world, or for us to enjoy quiet moments with our loved ones. For some of us, our bedroom now serves as our workspace too. For others, our kitchen countertop is not just to prepare meals — it is our home office too. And the balcony is now a great place for Zoom meetings.

This year’s EdgeProp Excellence Awards, now in its fourth year, is truly special in many ways. Beyond recognising the developments with the best architectural and landscape design, innovation and marketing, the judging process gave extra weightage to efficient and flexible living spaces to accommodate work and home-based learning, the incorporation of biophilic design into residential projects to bring nature closer to home, the practice of sustainability beyond regulatory requirements, and lastly, the adoption of innovative ways to showcase new showflats in view of stringent safe-distancing measures.
I also would like to take this opportunity to thank the panel of judges for their professional and insightful perspectives in these areas: Angela Lim, Co-Founder of SuMisura; Khew Sin Khoon, President and Group CEO of CPG Group; Ong Choon Fah, CEO of Edmund Tie; Colin Seah, Founder of Ministry of Design; Yvonne Tan, Director of DP Green; and Lee Nai Jia, Deputy Director of Institute of Real Estate and Urban Studies, National University of Singapore.
This year, despite the pandemic, we had more than 70 submissions compared to 61 last year. Since no site-visits were allowed (which typically was the most fun part of the process in the prior years), short- listed candidates were invited to give their presentations virtually along with their architects, engineers and project managers.

The judging committee met numerous times over Zoom to debate the merits of each development be- fore coming to a unanimous decision on the winners, which were reviewed by KPMG before they were finalised.
To the winners, congratulations for your outstanding developments. Also, a big “thank you” to all participants for the hard work which your team has put into the submission and presentation process.
