The Ministry of Education (MOE) will relocate Kranji Primary School from its current site in Chua Chu Kang to Tengah by 2028, and Outram Secondary School from York Hill to Sengkang in 2026. This is done in response to the changing demands for kindergarten and school placements, according to a Jan 16 press release.
Kranji Primary will be the second primary school to open in the new Tengah town area, after Pioneer Primary School, which is set to open in 2026. Anglo-Chinese School (Primary) will join them in 2030.
An MOE kindergarten (MK), MK@Kranji, will share the site with Kranji Primary after also moving from Chua Chu Kang.
To facilitate the relocation, Kranji Primary and MK@Kranji will stop accepting Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 students from 2025 and will stay in operation until all their existing students graduate. Kranji Primary is expected to close by end-2029, and MK@Kranji will stay in operation until end-2025.
Outram Secondary School will relocate from its current site in York Hill to Sengkang. To minimise disruption to students, the school will not be admitting new Secondary 1 students in 2025, but will begin accepting new Secondary 1 students at its Sengkang campus from 2026. It will operate two campuses until 2027, when its last batch of Secondary 4 students graduate.

Another new kindergarten will be located in Bukit View Primary School’s new campus in Bukit Batok West and is scheduled to open in 2028.
The MOE regularly reviews its plans for schools and MK placements to better cater to changing demand for school and preschool places across Singapore.
