The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been arrested earlier today.
"Wait for our statement," an MACC spokesperson said when contacted.
It is understood that Najib was arrested at his home in Jalan Langgak Duta at about 3pm today, and that he is being brought to MACC headquarters.
Raids on homes linked to Najib in May have unearthed cash, luxury good and valuables worth more than RM1 billion.
Najib is also being probed over allegations that billions of ringgits were wrongfully taken from 1MDB, a sovereign wealth fund he founded.
Najib and 1MDB have denied any wrongdoing.
