SINGAPORE (Sept 28): Engineering solutions provider Koh Brothers Eco Engineering announced Thursday that it has won a $520 million contract for the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) Phase 2 project.
PUB awarded the contract to POKB JV, a joint venture between Penta-Ocean Construction Co. and Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor (KBCE), a subsidiary of Koh Brothers Eco. KBCE holds a 35% stake in POKB JV.
In a filing to SGX on Thursday, Koh Brothers Eco says the project win lifts its order book to $878.9 million.
The project on Sept 25, and is targeted to complete in June 2023.
A “superhighway for used water management”, the DTSS is a cost-efficient and sustainable solution to meet Singapore’s long-term needs for used water collection, treatment, reclamation and disposal.
The Phase 2 project includes deep tunnels extending from the downtown area to the western part of Singapore – the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant and an integrated NEWater factory.
“We are pleased to have been awarded one of the most prominent infrastructure projects earmarked for this year. Backed by our expertise in civil and hydroengineering, we look forward to supporting national water agency PUB’s plans to expand water infrastructure and capacities in tandem with population growth,” says Koh Brother Eco’s CEO, Paul Shin.
“Part of the work scope for our latest project for DTSS Phase 2 will comprise a tunnel that will run under the sea. With our rich experience and proven capabilities, we are confident in delivering yet another quality product safely and efficiently alongside our strategic partner, Penta Ocean,” he adds.
