SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Danish water pump manufacturer Grundfos has unveiled the new global headquarters of its commercial building services (CBS) division in Singapore. In an April 19 press release, the company states the move to the new facility – located along Jalan Tukang, off Jalan Boon Lay – comes on the back of heightened demand for resource-efficient solutions in Singapore and the wider Asean region.

Poul Due Jensen, Grundfos' group president and CEO, says: “Locating our CBS headquarters in the heart of Asia is part of our wider business strategy of operating as a truly global company. We also recognise Singapore’s strong potential in becoming a hub for green innovation, which aligns with our business focus of driving global sustainability.”

He adds that the firm is committed to delivering on its net-zero targets. Last November, Grundfos announced a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and near-term emission reduction targets by 2030, validated by the climate action organisation Science Based Targets Initiative.

Grundfos’ CBS division delivers water pump systems to commercial buildings such as hotels, hospitals, office towers, airports and data centres. Their water pump systems serve various operational applications for the buildings, including air-conditioning, cooling, heating, fire protection, and wastewater or water disinfection. (Find Singapore commercial properties with our commercial directory)

“We look forward to advancing a sustainable built environment both regionally and globally, with Singapore at the heart of our innovation and operations,” says Bent Jensen, group executive vice president and CEO of commercial building service at Grundfos.

The headquarters will house a new Singapore Innovation Hub to leverage local knowledge to pioneer future solutions for energy-efficient commercial buildings. The facility will bring Grundfos’ R&D capabilities closer to customers and the market, and provide a platform for collaboration with industry partners, customers and researchers to co-develop energy and water-efficient smart solutions. Following feedback, steering and risk management efforts by Grundfos since March, the company aims to have a comprehensive working plan for the hub by 3Q2023.

Grundfos says its decision to set up the CBS global headquarters in Singapore was based on the city-state’s strengths in innovation and talent and its commitment to sustainability through the Singapore Green Plan 2030. In the future, Singapore’s strategic location as a gateway to other Asean countries will also allow Grundfos to work more closely with market customers to support their sustainable urbanisation needs.

With the new CBS headquarters, Grundfos says it will increase its talent pool to around 200 employees by hiring global and local talents. The company will also continue collaborating with public and private players locally.
