The Nov 6 opening comes ahead of the store’s previously announced timeline of the first quarter of next year.
However, only the first three levels will be opened. The remaining floors, B1 as well as levels four and five, will be opened as scheduled in the first quarter of next year.
This will be Courts’ second flagship store, after the existing Courts MegaStore in Tampines.
The store’s premises in Orchard was previously occupied by Robinsons The Heeren which closed in December 2020.
The new store’s namesake is modelled with the Nojima Corporation in mind. It also aims to deliver Japanese standards of service to Singapore.
At the Orchard flagship, shoppers will find a range of electrical, IT, furniture and bedding products, including a large premium bedding range that includes brands like Serta, Sealy and Simmons. In addition, the store will offer unique offerings such as Itoki, a 130-year-old Japanese workplace furnishing brand, as well as Bertazzoni’s premium Heritage Series ovens.
The flagship store in Orchard will also offer experiential concepts such as a fully equipped e-sports gaming room, four premium sound rooms and a robot vacuum experiential area.
Spanning 189,000 sq ft across six floors in The Heeren’s retail podium, the new Courts store will be its largest retail space in Singapore once fully opened.
All offerings at its existing Somerset location will be rehoused at the Courts Nojima store.
The Courts Tampines MegaStore will remain as is.
“Despite facing numerous headwinds and uncertainties due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we are extremely heartened to be opening the Courts Nojima flagship store ahead of schedule, thanks to the invaluable support of our partners and the dedication and hard work from our staff,” says Hoang Duc Thanh Matthew, group chief operating officer of Courts Asia Limited and Country CEO of Courts Singapore.
“The new Courts Nojima store will be looking to hire more staff across our retail floors, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to create job opportunities within the sector. With this opening, we hope to share some festive cheer to Singapore shoppers as the year draws to a close, and play our part in bringing back the spirit and vibrancy of Singapore’s overall retail sector,” he adds.
