SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Clarke Quay, well-known for its nightlife, will be repositioned as CQ @ Clarke Quay and undergo a $62 million year-long asset enhancement initiative to transform the landmark into a day-and-night destination.
“The repositioning of CQ @ Clarke Quay will broaden its appeal to families, and is in tandem with the urban renewal happening along the Singapore River precinct,” said Tony Tan, CEO of CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT) which owns Clarke Quay.
More leisure amenities and residential developments, such as the 696-unit Canninghill Piers, will be situated adjacent to CQ @ Clarke Quay, he adds.

Slated to be completed in 2023, the new CQ @ Clarke Quay will offer an enhanced selection of day-to-night dining options, lifestyle and F&B concepts. Outdoor refreshment areas will be updated, and will be altered to be pet-friendly. Infrastructure to cool the environment during the daytime will be improved, and the green building rating will be upgraded to BCA Green Mark Gold Plus.
Blocks A and D, located along the riverfront, will offer dining in an alfresco or heritage shophouse setting. The warehouse block, Block B, will have the godown’s typology and facade restored to house new retail lifestyle and F&B concepts. Blocks C and E - the Circuit - will showcase high-energy concepts, entertainment venues and F&B establishments.
A brand-new brewery concept will be featured at the Warehouses, run by an award-winning hospitality group. Other tenants include a new music lifestyle experience by Swee Lee, a FairPrice Finest curated grocer with in-store dining, a flagship coffeehouse flagship by a local specialty coffee brand, and a beauty salon and pottery-themed café, Catching the Waves, by Initia Group.
Other zones will feature spa and massage chain Natureland and Chinese seafood restaurant Seafood Paradise. Asia’s tallest Slingshot ride will catapult riders 70m above the Singapore River. Existing key tenants Zouk Group and 1-Group will expand their day-to-night offerings.
CICT has secured a pre-commitment of 70% of CQ @ Clarke Quay’s net lettable space in advanced negotiations from tenants and leases.
“As SIngapore eases Covid-19 measures and reopens borders, we are positioning our downtown properties to welcome the return of more shoppers,” says Chris Chong, CEO of retail and workspace at CapitaLand Investment. Chong is confident that the transformed CQ @ Clarke Quay as a day-and-night destination will be a key highlight in the rejuvenation of the Singapore River precinct.
