After serving two terms as the president of Real Estate Developers Association of Singapore (REDAS), Augustine Tan has passed the mantle to Chia Ngiang Hong, group general manager of Singapore-listed property group City Developments Ltd (CDL).
Tan, executive director of the property services division of privately-held property giant Far East Organization, will remain in the REDAS management committee for 2019/2020 as the immediate past president and ex-officio.
Cheng Hsing Yao, group managing director of GuocoLand, has been appointed first vice president of the committee, while Tan Swee Yiow, CEO of Keppel Land, is the second vice president. Honorary secretary is Chong Hock Chang, Ho Bee Land group director (projects and marketing); while honorary treasurer is Christopher Tang, CEO of Frasers Property Ltd.

Chia, the newly appointed REDAS president, is a real estate veteran of some 40 years, having joined CDL in 1981. He wears many hats: He serves as a member of the advisory panel in the Building and Construction Authority Academy as well as a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers. He is also a board member of Institute of Real Estate Studies, and immediate past president of the Singapore Green Building Council. Chia currently chairs the Advisory Committee to the National University of Singapore’s School of Design and Environment and is a member of the Department Consultative Committee.
Beyond the real estate industry, Chia is also active in community and grassroot activities. He serves as a Justice of Peace and was given the PBM and BBM National Day Awards.
