Property giant CapitaLand is partnering Sembcorp Industries to install 21,240 rooftop solar panels on six CapitaLand properties by the end of the year. The installation will be the largest combined rooftop solar facility in Singapore by a real estate company.
The six properties earmarked for this installation are: 1 Changi Business Park Avenue 1, 9 Changi South Street 3, 2 Senoko South Road, 40 Penjuru Lane, Techpoint, and LogisTech. They are held under CapitaLand’s business space and industrial real estate investment trust, Ascendas Reit.

The solar farm is expected to generate more than 10,000 megawatt-hours of energy each year, which could power about 2,300 four-room HDB flats each year. It will also contribute towards avoiding more than 4.3 million kg of carbon emissions each year, and significantly lower CapitaLand’s carbon footprint.
“This initiative is an example that sustainability can create value-add propositions. Following CapitaLand’s recent integration with Ascendas-Singbridge, we can now leverage a wider network of properties to contribute meaningfully towards sustainability,” says Lynette Leong, chief sustainability officer for CapitaLand Group.
