SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Arena Esports Hotel, the operator of an "esports gaming arena-themed" hotel of the same name, has secured space for a new hotel at Cuppage Terrace, the row of shophouses located along Cuppage Road in the Orchard Road area.
The space is being leased from landlord Royal Holdings, a property investment group controlled by property magnate Raj Kumar. According to a media release by Savills Retail & Lifestyle, which brokered the lease, the space taken up by Arena Esports Hotel encompasses 11 adjoining shophouses with a combined area of 12,000 sq ft. It was previously leased out to a co-working operator.
“I thought it would be so cool to have a new and exciting concept like an eSports Hotel in a heritage building. And it so happened that both Arena Esports and landlord Royal Holdings shared my vision,” says Sulian Tan-Wijaya, executive director of Savills Retail and Lifestyle.
The hotel will be Arena Esports Hotel’s second one in Singapore, following its 25,000 sq ft flagship property at Bugis Village, which is set to open in 1Q2023. According to Savills, Arena Esports Hotel offers “a unique combination of co-working, co-playing and co-living facilities all under one roof”. The new hotel at Cuppage Terrace will feature 46 rooms, a battle station for esports competitions and a communal virtual reality lounge for hotel guests. “Savills was very helpful in negotiating lease terms with Royal Holdings and went the extra mile for us to obtain the relevant licenses from the authorities and secure this prime location in Orchard Road,” says Tracy Sheridan Tan, CEO of Arena Esports Hotel.
