Corals at Keppel Bay is the third phase of the residential development in the Keppel Bay waterfront precinct. Located along the historic King's Dock, the development comprises 366 luxurious waterfront homes designed by world-renowned master architect Daniel Libeskind.

On October 23 2017, the development won the People’s Choice award at the inaugural EdgeProp Singapore’s Excellence Awards. We asked voters why they chose this project and summarised our findings down to three winning factors that made Corals at Keppel Bay your top property pick.

1)     It has a distinctive brand identity

A development’s name is a huge part of its brand and how a property is perceived by the public. A name gives a building “personality”, can enhance its desirability and creates an image that is distinct from its competition.

For a start, the moniker Coral – a semiprecious natural sea growth that is often used to make jewellery and ornaments – suggests luxury and splendour, elements that well resonate with the development’s aesthetics and architectural design. Corals by Keppel Bay was inspired by its location along the southern coastline of Singapore, and its 11 residential blocks are arranged as meandering coastal reefs. The blocks also have an organic façade.

It was the coral theme and its proximity to the sea that prompted Mr Yeow Ping to vote for the development for our People’s Choice award.

“There were a number of properties on the list, but I picked Corals as one of my favourites because its unique structure really appealed to me. It is really shaped like a coral and is something that sticks to your mind, visually,” said Mr Yeow, who is one of our “vote and win” winners.

Kua Yah Hwei, another one of EdgeProp’s winners, said she took into consideration factors like location, as well as the development’s surroundings during the voting process and picked Corals by Keppel Bay as one of her favourites for its unique design.

2)     A halcyon living experience

Corals at Keppel Bay offers homeowners an idyllic lifestyle in a picturesque setting, with choice units of one- to four-bedroom apartments and penthouses with sizes ranging from about 600 sq ft to a super penthouse of about 7,900 sq ft. One notable factor is the way that the blocks are arranged, so that most units are able to enjoy views of the waterways.

As its designer, Mr Libeskind puts it, "It is a project not conceived as something abstract, but really a social place to live in. Every unit, every view is composed. Every balcony and every setting in space is unique."

More than half of the development is covered by greenery and water features, with an expansive garden at its centre, surrounded by facilities such as an Olympic-length swimming pool and clubhouse with a landscaped roof, rainwater filtration and recycling system.

Homeowners can enjoy lifestyle facilities that include a clubhouse with a member's lounge, gourmet restaurants, recreational amenities and leisure charter services to access neighbouring islands.

Furthermore, it’s close to Marina at Keppel Bay, Mount Faber, Keppel Club Golf Course and Labrador Park. Its peaceful setting also enjoys good connectivity, being a stone’s throw away from the Harbourfront MRT station.

3)     A killer view

Nestled at a serene corner of the island, a high proportion of units at Corals at Keppel Bay come with a view that overlooks the open sea. Mr Tan Chin Yang, who also voted for the People’s Choice Award, said the stunning waterfront features at Corals at Keppel Bay immediately caught his attention.

Tan, a financier who invests in properties, shares that he likes properties located near the sea and those with waterfront features continue to be his top picks and it’s not hard to imagine why.

For the People’s Choice Awards, our readers picked their top development by voting for their favourite projects on a dedicated voting webpage based on more than 30 projects nominated. Nearly 3,000 votes were received at the end of the voting period. The project with the highest votes on the closing date was Corals at Keppel Bay.
